Slipknot are an American nu metal band from Des Moines, Iowa. The group has gone through several line-up changes, but its membership has not changed since 1999: Sid Wilson, Joey Jordison, Paul Gray, Chris Fehn, Jim Root, Craig Jones, Shawn Crahan, Mick Thomson and Corey Taylor.
Slipknot use a down-tuned guitar set-up (lead, rhythm, and bass guitars), two percussionists in addition to the primary drummer, and electronics (samplers and turntables). The band's sound has been described as "a threshing machine devouring a military drum corps."[1] The band also incorporates diverse vocal styles, typically involving growled vocals, melodic singing and even rapping while the lyrics generally follow a very aggressive tone. The band's musical influences include death metal as well as thrash metal, blues and even hip hop.
Slipknot's roots lie back as far as 1992, and the band formed in November 1995. The band underwent many line-up changes before releasing their highly successful debut album Slipknot in 1999. They have released two other albums, Iowa and Vol. 3: (The Subliminal Verses). Slipknot are expected to release a fourth album in 2008.
Death metal and technical grind have an interesting way of co-existing. While each genre shares characteristics with the other it would seem that many bands would rather stay narrow in scope and keep the two as oil and water. However some outstanding young acts in the last few years have managed to rejuvenate the underground by encompassing more of extreme metal’s tangents and delivering some very impacting and fresh ideas into a seemingly over-cooked stew. Despised Icon, Beneath The Massacre, Leng Tch’e and others have thrown all caution (and rules) into the wind and are re-defining the death and grind genres with vibrant ideas and unrelenting delivery. Oakland’s ALL SHALL PERISH are cut from that same jib; delivering brutal music that possesses a natural need to experiment and push the boundaries of the extreme underground. Their second offering, The Price Of Existence, will turn the death metal and underground hordes on their collective ear, and when all is said and done the band is sure to be touted as one of the best young extreme acts from the West Coast in this new millennium. Finding common ground with a taste for such bands as Dying Fetus, Opeth, Cannibal Corpse, Hatebreed, Blood Has Been Shed and At The Gates, ALL SHALL PERISH formed with the intent of not being labeled with the restricting monikers of "death metal", "hardcore" or "metalcore", rather they simply wanted to brutalize audiences and get people moving. The band's 2005 Nuclear Blast debut Hate, Malice, Revenge proved that they were capable of blending various styles while delivering memorable and intelligent songs to all fans of metal and hardcore. Their live show brought the band's vicious attack from coast to coast with such known acts like Six Feet Under, Agnostic Front, As I Lay Dying, Bleeding Through, Brujeria, Dying Fetus, Diecast and Hate Eternal, and before anyone knew it ALL SHALL PERISH had racked up almost 10,000 units via Soundscan.
Change is inevitable, and when you’re 100% committed to your art it’s imperative that only the best people be involved. ASP took the necessary steps to outfit themselves with the best line-up available for The Price Of Existence. New vocalist Hernan “Eddie” Hermida’s delivery adds more depth and clarity to the band's overall impact, while the technical skills of guitarist Ben Orum and new axesmith Chris Storey are as top-notch as those of the most seasoned players in underground metal (“Prisoner Of War” and “There Is No Business To Be Done On A Dead Planet” are perfect examples). Powerhouse drummer Matt Kuykendall gives a heart stopping performance, immediately ranking him just under such elite players as Flo Mounier (Cryptopsy) and Derek Roddy (Hate Eternal). Tracks like "Eradication", “We Hold These Truths” and the ever-so-catchy “Wage Slaves” are brutal and would knock a gorilla on its backside, while “The Last Relapse” and the moody instrumental “Interlude” show a melodic side to the band which proves that ALL SHALL PERISH have forged ahead light years and have delivered a regal metal gem. The Price Of Existence is demanding indeed!
At a time when the rock scene appears to be returning to more traditional values, Children Of Bodom a young band with a wealth of experience and a ready supply of great songs are perfectly placed to be one of the acts-with-an-attitude over the next 12 months, and indeed beyond. The Children are the future, its official.
IN the same way that the Olympics shifts from country to country, so does the Rock n Roll Capital Of The World forever change its town. In the 80s it was Los Angeles, the Wild West Coast, in the 90s it was Seattle, City Of Grunge, and now in the Year Of Our Lord 2005, its Helsinki.
In fact, its Finland in general. A country of just five million inhabitants, a vast percentage of whom appear to be in guitar-heavy bands bands with the instinctive ability to combine the drama of rock musics colourful past with the more cutting edge manoeuvres of a fresh millennium. Whats more, these are rock bands who actually look the part as in long hair, sombre attire, and guitars that are as likely to be Flying Ved as not.
Enter Children Of Bodom: a five-piece outfit from Espoo in Finland who, since the latter part of the 90s, has been building a reputation as a genuine market leader. Originally called Inearthed (a fledgling set-up with a series of demos to their name), COB can be as downright brutal as any of the extreme metallers when the situation demands. But what places these guys right at the sharp end of the pack is the way they can suddenly dish up huge swathes of melody & instantly memorable choruses plus of course a degree of musicianship that has seen vocalist/guitarist Alexi Wildchild Laiho gracing the covers on guitar magazines around the world.
Over the past eight years, Alexi & Co. have recorded & released four full studio albums (Something Wild, 1997; Hatebreeder, 1999; Follow The Reaper, 2000; Hate Crew Deathroll, 2003), plus the live album Tokyo Warhearts(1999). At a time when the creation of quality catalogue appears to be happening less & less, COB are not only well ahead of the game, but now poised to unveil Studio Album No. 5 ARE YOU DEAD YET a flawless ten-track outing scheduled for October 25th U.S release, featuring the only in Finland released cover of the Ramones classic "Somebody Put Something In My Drink"; that is sure to push the Finnish Five to a whole new level of international success, both critically & commercially.
Titled Are You Dead Yet? and produced by the band & Mikko Karmila, who also put his stamp on the Hate Crew sessions, eight of the tracks here are brand new (songs such as Living Dead Beat, Bastards Of Bodom and lead single/video In Your Face), whereas rashed, Lost & Strungout will already be familiar to fans, having initially seen the light of day on the (Europe 2004) (United States) 2005 EP of the same name.
With a video for In Your Face having just been filmed with Katapult Productions, the ultra-cool team behind all of the recent Rammstein clips, Are You Dead Yet?is certain to attract major media attention on a genuinely global scale especially as the band on-the-road schedule in support of Album Five (including key festival appearances such as the recent Earthshaker event in Germany) already has them fully committed until the Summer of 2006 with a spot a spot on next years Wacken Open Air Festival.
As things stand, Alexi, Jaska Raatikainen (drums), Janne Warmen (keyboards), Henkka Blacksmith (bass) & Roope Latvala (the most acclaimed Finnish guitarist ever) tore up the stages of the Gates Of Metal Festival in Sweden & the Metalway Festival in Spain this past August; then journeyed to Australia & Japan (where Hate Crew has now passed the 40,000 mark, pushing catalogue sales worldwide to half a million plus) and broke it down for the fans there as well. The USA is now preparing for their onslaught with a North American Tour spanning the continent in the months of September & October. Children Of Bodom will finish their year with trek back to native Europe in mid December where they will tour until February
There is no better indication that greatness can be achieved through a resilient work ethic than Lacuna Coil, whose aggressive touring and extensive critical praise have now poised them for mainstream domination. The group initially left their mark on the hard rock scene in 2004 with their acclaimed album, Comalies, which opened several opportunities for them that were previously thought unattainable for an Italian band, such as two highly successful commercial radio campaigns alongside a breakthrough Ozzfest appearance resulting in over 500,000 copies sold worldwide with a quarter of a million in the U.S. alone. Now, Lacuna Coil returns with their highly anticipated new album, Karmacode, which is another huge step forward in the band’s continuous evolution. It has been years since an artist came along that could redefine a genre, but this group has the potential to do just that. This is the next big thing.

!About IN VEIN(New VDO up)
In Vein was formed in the late of the year 2005, After finding and jamming together in the first year of college. First, we started with some favorite tunes we, as the individuals, liked, such as At the Gates, In Flames, Arch Enemy, Kataklysm, etc. After finding the vibes all together, we all agreed to push things a bit further, such as write our own stuff! We came up with the first 3 songs in the beginning of the year 2006(also added into our "myspace" page in the late of the year 2006), the songs were "In Vein"(self title), "Kill You", and "In the heart of a black society", and as we thought, it was about the right time we go out and express it in front of the audience what we were all about, damn it! With the help of all the friends we knew who helped us along the way (you know who you are!!) we got gigs that added experiences to our skills. Some shows we loved (and still craving to play more shows like that), some shows we hated (never, ever call us again!), but it was all worthwhile. After we had collected all the vibes and experiences into our skills along the way, again, we were ready to write more songs. Now we just put out 3 more songs into our profile, including "In god’s hands, I stand before death", "Passaya", and "Devil inside", fortunately and hopefully, we might even finish making our first album before the end of this year (2007). As you would see how we’ve grown in such a short period of time. Some might like us, some might not even give us a glance, but who gives a fuck? We know we don’t!! We love what we’re doing, and we’ll definitely continue doing this same old stuff and be improved along the way with or without you!!!!!! So, fuck off or Cheers!!!
